This June, Senang Supperclub is deeply honoured—and honestly a little beside ourselves—to welcome Mata Karanjang to Singapore for three nights only.

The food of North Sulawesi is already unlike anything else in the region: volcanic, coastal, fiercely alive. Smoke on citrus and herbs, charred wild-caught seafood, but never spice for spice’s sake. Manadonese heat blooms slowly, then all at once—always in service of brightness, depth, and flavour.

And then there is chef Jovan Koraag’s interpretation of it.

Our encounter with his cooking genuinely rearranged something in us. Entirely its own, yet somehow familiar. A vivid cuisine made brighter still—sharper, smokier, more alive at the edges. Deeply rooted in Manadonese culinary memory, yet expressed with striking clarity and confidence.

Even in Indonesia, opportunities to experience Manadonese cuisine at this level are exceedingly rare. In many ways, this collaboration captures exactly why Senang Supperclub exists: a full-throated celebration of regional cuisines with deep specificity, strong points of view, and stories inseparable from place.

For three nights, our supperclub transforms around the flavours and spirit of North Sulawesi—gutsy contemporary cooking and soul food at its very best.

Little wonder Mata Karanjang has quietly become such an insider’s favourite in Jakarta.
